Photo Measure: Label Measurements on the Photo Right Away, So You Never Forget the Numbers

When measuring furniture, rooms or a job site, the most common problem is this: you write the numbers on paper, then later can’t remember which length belongs to which part. This tool lets you draw arrows directly on a photo and label them with the lengths you actually measured, creating a dimension image that’s “clear at a glance” and easy to send to family, designers, contractors or sellers for confirmation. All labeling happens inside your browser, and your photos are never uploaded to a server.

Steps

1. Upload a photo, or tap “Take Photo” on your phone.
2. First choose a unit of measurement: centimeters, meters, millimeters or inches.
3. Press and drag on the photo from the start point to the end point, then release and enter the length you actually measured for that segment with a tape measure.
4. Repeat for any other dimensions you want to record; you can add many measurements to the same photo.
5. When you’re done, click “Download Labeled Image” or “Share Image” and send it to whoever needs it.

Note: This tool does not calculate lengths from the photo automatically. The number on each arrow is the actual measurement you entered, so the labels are only as accurate as your measurements.

Editing and changes

• Tap an arrow you’ve already drawn to select it, change its number or delete it.
• Drag either end of an arrow to fine-tune its start and end points.
• “Undo” cancels the last step, and “Clear All” removes every arrow.
• Switching units only affects arrows you add afterwards and doesn’t change numbers you’ve already labeled, so take care when mixing units.

Practical scenarios

• Before buying furniture or appliances: Photograph where it will go and label the wall width, windowsill height and door frame width, so when shopping in store or online you’ll know at a glance whether it will fit.
• Communicating about renovations and repairs: Label the dimensions of walls, cabinets or pipe locations on a photo and send it to your designer or contractor to reduce misunderstandings.
• Job site records: Take photos on site and label them immediately, leaving a record with both pictures and numbers.
• Selling secondhand items: Mark the length, width and height on product photos to cut down on repeated questions from buyers.

Photo and measuring tips

• When taking the photo, face the surface you’re measuring as squarely as possible to reduce perspective distortion, so the arrow positions are more intuitive.
• For long distances, ask someone to hold the other end of the tape measure for a more accurate reading.
• Too many arrows on one photo make it hard to read; split the labels across several photos by area.
